Why doesn’t HIDDIT use artificial sweeteners? Find out!

At Hiddit, we have taken a stance NOT to use artificial sweeteners, such as sucralose, acefulsame-K, aspartame or saccharin. Ever. In anything.

Although generally considered safe, recent studies are suggesting that certain side effects and health issues can’t be completely ruled out.

This goes from mild issues such as migraine triggering to more serious concerns, depending on the sweetener used.

For instance, you will notice a lot of sports supplements are sweetened with sucralose.

Sucralose is a sweetener that in theory does not get absorbed by your body, and leaves the gastrointestinal track entirely.

New studies suggest however that sucralose is indeed absorbed by your body, according to research of professor Susan S. Schiffman, PhD, an adjunct professor at North Carolina State University.

Her publishing (‘Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part B: Critical Reviews’) suggests a myriad of concerns, including reduced good gut bacteria, release of toxins during heating, altered insulin response and even alterations to the genes.


We invite every consumer to educate himself on the potential risks, but at HIDDIT we decided that our customer’s health will always come first.

Therefore, we use the natural sweetener Thaumatin, which is a protein that is extracted from the West-African Katemfe fruit. Being a protein, our bodies are perfectly able to digest this sweetener.
